Why Older Men Prefer Younger Women

When it comes to older men wanting younger women times have not changed this desire since the existence of mankind. When I was in my 20’s I would get hit from men in their 50’s and 60’s and it was really confusing to me why they thought they would have a chance. But there are reasons for this mad behavior according to research.

One in five men who remarry wed a woman at least 10 years their junior, according to a Pew Research Center of Census data. By contrast, only one in 20 men on their first marriage pair up with someone that young (Ingraham, 2014).  It’s rare that older men go after younger women their first time marrying, although the percentage is way higher than women going after younger men.

“There’s a common stereotype that American men who remarry are especially likely to walk down the aisle with a younger woman. While 80 percent of men in their first marriages have spouses within five years of their age, that share drops to 57 percent by the second marriage. Men are no more or less likely to marry older women between their first and second marriages (Ingraham, 2014).”

Men who fear aging also go after younger women that are old enough to be their daughter or granddaughter in order to feel younger or wanted and attractive. It assist them in feeling valuable and not so old they are left out. But don’t get discourage yet, ladies. A new study of over 450,000 online daters has also found that men between the ages of 20 and 29 prefer to date older women. Although the study did find that, yes, men do want younger women, the average most desirable age gap was up to 11 years younger than themselves. Even men in their 60s were sticking to this 11 year difference, as opposed to shooting for a 40-year difference.

Why older men prefer younger women? To find out if they can. To feel younger and valuable. Sometimes it just happens without trying. Even though study shows that men prefer younger women after their first marriage, it seems to be, in this instance, insecurity that older men forcefully search for women half their age.
